If you’ve been in a bicycle accident, it’s very important to, of course, first of all, get the medical attention that you need. If 911 has been called, then most likely the police are going to come or the CHP is going to come, and they’ll get a statement from you if you’re able, or from any witnesses that are there. Sometimes, if it’s a minor accident, the police won’t come and they won’t do a report. So, in that case, it’s important to just take any pictures that you can for yourself and try to document what happened as best you can in that moment.

It’s important to look at things like the conditions on the street. So, take photos of the street if you can, take photos of the—if it’s a car that hit you—take photos of the car. And if you look around and see if there’s any businesses nearby that might have camera footage, go and ask them to save it for you.
