Should You File A Zantac Cancer Lawsuit?

Suppose you took Zantac in the past, and you faced a cancer diagnosis as a result. In that case, you may be entitled to compensation and should file a Zantac cancer lawsuit.

But, that begs the question: what types of cancer are associated with Zantac? Well, Zantac causes a variety of cancers, including:

  • Lung cancer (even in non-smokers)
  • Stomach cancer
  • Prostate cancer
  • Testicular cancer
  • Pancreatic cancer
  • Breast cancer
  • Kidney cancer
  • Bladder cancer
  • Liver cancer

Therefore, if you took Zantac and were diagnosed with any of the previous cancer types, you should file a Zantac cancer lawsuit. Contact our product liability attorneys to get started today.

Was Zantac Recalled By The FDA?

The FDA recently ordered all ranitidine medications under the Zantac name removed from store shelves. According to the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), the drug contains cancer-causing chemicals (carcinogens), which may worsen over time. If you took Zantac, especially if it’s been in your medicine cabinet for quite a long time, contact our attorneys. We’re always standing by to represent you and your interests in a court of law.

What Is The Link Between Ranitidine (Zantac) And Cancer?

The FDA reported small amounts of NDMA (N-Nitroso-dimethylamine) in several different over the counter heartburn and ulcer medications. However, the amounts discovered in drugs containing ranitidine (like Zantac) was enough to cause alarm. NDMA is a common contaminant found in water, meat, dairy, and vegetables. It’s considered a B2 carcinogen, which means it has the potential to cause cancer. Exposure to large doses of NDMA can cause several different forms of cancer (as listed earlier).

Due to the discovery, the FDA ordered a voluntary recall of drugs containing ranitidine. The administration also urged consumers to discard any medications they have in their homes that contain the chemical.

“The FDA is also advising consumers taking OTC ranitidine to stop taking any tablets or liquid they currently have, dispose of them properly, and not buy more; for those who wish to continue treating their condition, they should consider using other approved OTC products.” (FDA)
