I think that I’ve always been inspired as a lawyer by some of the great lawyers who have shown a lot of courage in what they did, from representing people who are disadvantaged to fighting great fights against difficult odds.
I went to law school at Stanford, and I got into representing people because I felt like it was a career where I could help individuals make a difference in their lives—people who have sometimes been very badly injured—and that felt meaningful to me. I feel really grateful to have had this career and to still be doing it, and to now have a family law firm with my daughters practicing with me.
We started Cutter Law in 2012. I’ve been representing people for a lot longer than that, but in 2012 we decided to start Cutter Law as its own firm, and it’s grown quite a bit since then. I’ve personally seen how being severely injured can really affect somebody’s life, and how not having resources can be a huge obstacle to getting better and carrying on with life. One of the things we’ve tried to do here is really make sure that people end up with the resources they need, and that has been a big motivator in doing what we do.
At Cutter Law, we represent people who have been injured, sometimes catastrophically, and our cases cover a wide range. Sometimes people come to us as representatives of a larger group in a class action. Other times, it’s someone who’s had a bad car accident and needs help with that. Sometimes people come to us because of a bad medical malpractice case. So it really runs a range. We also happen to represent whistleblowers who have witnessed wrongdoing at their company.
One of the things I pride myself on at our firm is that we work as a team. Clients should always expect that we will have a team on their case, including skilled paralegals, legal assistants, and excellent lawyers, all working together to get the best possible result for them.
