Hotel owners and operators have a responsibility to keep their properties free and safe of hazards, well-maintained, and ready to welcome visitors. So, common causes of issues that happen at hotel properties are slip and fall accidents, trip and fall accidents, improperly secured railings that could cause hotel guests to fall, or unsafe railings when sometimes children can slip between the bars. An example of a case that I had at a hotel is the hotel installed improper tiling outside, and the tiling was intended for indoor use.
And so, on a rainy day, my client just was walking outside, and of course the tile became slick, and he slipped and fell and injured his knee and ended up having to have knee surgery. So that’s an example of hotel negligence that leads to someone’s injuries that the hotel can be liable for. In order to pursue a case against a hotel, they need to have done something unreasonable or unsafe that caused your injuries. The mere fact that someone might have tripped or fallen at a hotel doesn’t necessarily mean that the hotel or property owner did anything wrong. So, it’s important to contact a lawyer and take pictures of the location, and then we can help you figure out if it’s something that someone’s responsible for.
