It is important that, as soon as you’re comfortable after an accident, beginning to think about representation. Get someone to represent you; get a good firm on your side because the longer you wait, the more evidence disappears, witnesses vanish, and the opportunity to really develop your case as a strong one goes down over time.
So, even though you have up to two years after being in an accident to file a lawsuit, you would not want to wait that long to retain counsel because by that time, much of the evidence isn’t there, and you’ve lost the benefit of a lot of good advice that you could have had in the meantime.
