What Should You Do If a Nursing Home Retaliates After a Complaint?
Video Transcript
All nursing homes are regulated by some governmental body at the state level. Skilled nursing facilities are regulated by the California Department of Public Health, and assisted living facilities are regulated by the California Department of Social Services. Both agencies are resources for complaints and can take immediate action in cases of failures in care.
Likewise, there are long-term care ombudsmen who can provide immediate intervention in care issues.
As plaintiff attorneys, we have a role in taking and holding businesses accountable for these failures. We can do this very effectively in a court of law, seeking damages and pursuing injunctive relief, which can prevent facilities from engaging in certain conduct. That is the work we do at Cutter Law.
It’s important to note that the immediacy of our intervention is generally slower than what a regulatory body or Adult Protective Services can provide when addressing urgent care needs.
