How Are Settlements Divided in a Class Action?

Video Transcript

In a class action, settlements are divided based on your actual harm.

The amount of money you lost as a result of the fraud or the misdealing by the

company, or, in the case of a data breach, if your data got stolen and you got your bank account hacked, or whatever, the harm that you incur is what you get, and will often have a large settlement.

It’s divided among the people who come forward and it’s based upon what your actual harm is.
